Antique map of the Netherlands, Gelderland A coloured copper-engraving. Size 34 x 39 cm. Isaak Tirion, (1705-1765), was a Dutch bookseller and publisher.He settled in Amsterdam in 1725 where he publihed many ( mainly topographical) books a.o. 'Hedendaagse Historie' of 'Tegenwoordige Staat van alle Volken' and: Tegenwoordige Staat der Vereenigde Nederlanden' . He also published 8 atlasses, from which several editions were published till 1784. The atlas maps were printed on heavy paper, the maps in his books were printed on thinner material. He also worked for “De Staten van Holland en West-Friesland” who ordered a large number of “waterstaatskaarten.”. After his death his widow continued his company for 10 more years.
