The Gorn Crisis

During the Dominion War, as seen in the last two seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, there was one Federation starship notably absent from the action - U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701E. Where were Captain Jean-Luc Picard and crew, and why weren't they in the thick of battle?

As the title reveals, the Enterprise-E was off in another part of space, dealing with a rouge force of Gorn trying to use the distraction of the Dominion War to launch their own attack against Starfleet, to avenge the their treatment by Capt. James T. Kirk and crew a century before.
