Alexandre Emile Lapie (1800-1871) was one of the major commerical map publishers in Paris during the first half of the 19th century. His works include a number of commercially successful atlases, separately published maps and maps prepared for private and government reports and other geographical works.

Cont. morocco backed boards, flat spine with gilt ruling and title. Complete with 42 maps (8 double page and 34 single-page), most maps with original hand-colouring in outline. Binding scuffed and worn, bookblock detached, but intact. Plates clean and well-preserved.
