When Mosby/Yearbook/Times Mirror bought CRC Press from the Starkoffs this classic must have been the most attractive plum in the deal (it was virtually the only asset acquired from The Chemical Rubber Co. in 1973/74). The successor to Robert Weast, just retired as the 37 year editor, has begun a reorganization of the Handbook. The 300 tables are about one-fifth new or greatly revised. Hazard coverage is expanded; and the conversion to SI units is extended, though not complete. The Handbook is a bargain at some four cents per page. Those impecunious collections that acquire only every second or third edition must have the 71st, or, at least, keep acquainted with the revisions under Lide, the new editor.
