Die Verdrängung der Juden aus der Wirtschaft im Dritten Reich
Omschrijving
The leading position of many Jews in the diffusion of capitalism in Germany and Austria, combined with old prejudices, caused an increase in antisemitism among the middle class by 1870; at the same time, the "völkisch" theory was adopted by rural bourgeois antisemites. The political breakdown in 1918 and the economic collapse between 1929-33 transformed middle-class antisemitism into a mass movement which fell into line with Nazism, the tactically more able successor of the "völkisch" movement. Traces the gradual exclusion of Jews from the German economy, highlighting the boycott of Jewish enterprises in 1933, and the discrimination and persecution, which culminated in the "Kristallnacht" pogrom, Aryanization, dismissal of Jews from their professional positions, and the general confiscation of Jewish property with the Final Solution.
