Volume one contains engraved head and tailpieces, an engraved frontispiece and a titles (before part 2). This text volume contains five parts, each with its separate title. The parts each cover a year from the five-year period 1690-1694.
Volume 1 of the accompanying atlas contains 64 hand-finished double-page and folding maps, while volume 2 contains 83 maps and a folding plate of a cross-section of the 'Machine Infernale', a ship filled with explosives.
