La vie du bienheureux Laurent de Brindes, général des Capucins

First edition of the life of the Italian capuchin theologian Laurentius de Brindisi (1559-1619), published in honour of his beatification in 1783. He was eventually canonized as a saint in 1881. Illustrated with frontispice portrait of the blessed.

In 1601, he was named the imperial chaplain for the army of Holy Roman Emperor Rudolph II, and led the army during the siege of Székesfehérvár in Hungary against the Ottomans, armed only with a crucifix. He was elected vicar general of the Capuchins in 1602.
