Media and Posthumanism

This edited collection examines the expression of posthumanist themes across diverse media, emphasizing the interconnections of technology, identity, and existence. As technological breakthroughs increasingly obscure the distinctions between the organic and inorganic, as well as the human and non-human, media narratives function as essential arenas for analysing these shifting dynamics.

The book examines the representation of posthuman identities in film, television, and literature, prompting philosophical inquiries regarding autonomy, subjectivity, and agency, and examines how posthumanism transforms conventional humanist notions of the self and society, especially by investigating the interdependent link between humans and technology.

Anupama A. P. is Assistant Professor of English at VIT-AP University. A UNESCO Research Fellow, her work spans film studies, semiotics, spectatorship, posthumanism, and cyberpunk. She co-edited Global Perspectives on Indigenous Film and Literature (2025) and publishes widely in journals and edited volumes while leading an ICSSR-funded research project.

Amar Ramesh Wayal is Assistant Professor of English at VIT-AP University. His research covers Indigenous studies, television, posthumanism, and comparative literature. An ICSSR and Shastri scholar, he authored Revisiting the Reservation (2024) and edited Global Perspectives on Indigenous Film and Literature (2025), with publications across journals and edited volumes extensively.
