Petrus Camper (1722-1789) was highly esteemed in the scientific world and had a great talent for illustrating as is also shown in this posthumous publication. The lecture presented here discuss the facial expressions and the analogy between animals and men, but also reflect on architecture, sculpture and on 'beauty'. They were held at Amsterdam in 1774, 1778 and 1782 and were published by Camper's son Adriaan Gilles.
