The Viking Age in Orkney, Caithness and the North Atlantic
This book presents the findings of a team of archaeologists, art historians, historians, place name experts and scholars of saga literature. They chart the Vikings' occupation of Northern Scotlanbd, Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands in all its facets. A gazeteer of the major sites and places in the region gives summaries of the most recent findings, while experts from Scandinavia, Britain and the US provide the historical and literary background to the region.
