A director at the Royal Naval Museum and well known on television as an authority on the famous British admiral, White tells the tale of two battles that played a key role in shaping Nelson's character and style as a leader. At Cape St. Vincent in February he defeated the Spanish soundly and came to public attention. At Santa Cruz in July he lost both the battle and an arm.
