May 12-18, 2003, was a watershed week in the history of photography. For 24 hours a day for seven days, digital photographers across the nation were invited to take pictures of their cities and towns, friends and neighbors, and families and pets. More than 25,000 photographers responded. They ranged from first-time digital photographers to university photography students to top international photojournalists and newspaper shooters-including 36 Pulitzer Prize winners. As the largest, most talented group of photographers ever assembled, the America 24/7 team shot more than a million digital images during this one-week period.
