12x Erwin Olaf

The exhibition 12x Erwin Olaf (2019) at the Rijksmuseum featured twelve iconic photographs and videos by Erwin Olaf in direct dialogue with masterpieces by painters such as Rembrandt, Jan Steen, and Breitner.
The 2019 exhibition was organized in honor of Olaf’s 60th birthday and his donation at that time of a core collection of over five hundred works to the Rijksmuseum. In this unique exhibition, Olaf’s modern photo series and still lifes were displayed directly alongside historical paintings, such as his work *The Sampling Officials* opposite a work by Rembrandt.
