Omschrijving
First edition of Wolff's most famous and best work on industrial photography. Profusely illustrated with photographs in b/w and sepia tone of workers in construction, in the automobile-, metal, steel, coal, chemical, and various other industries. Includes one text page of Adolf Hitler's speech held in the Reichstag on January 30th, 1937. A highly influential photographic celebration of German industrialism, with 200 photogravure plates in the tradition of Renger-Patzch’s Eisen und Stahl (1931).
German photographer Paul Wolff, often working in collaboration with Alfred Tritschler, produced a number of exceptional photobooks through the 1920s and 1930s, at a time when Constructivism and the Bauhaus influenced many with visions “of an industrialized and socialized society” that placed Germany at “the forefront of European photography” cf. Parr & Badger, 1986
