Contains TThis Earth of Mankind' and TChild of All Nations', the first two novels of a quartet which is banned in the author's homeland of Indonesia. Max Lane, who translated the works, was recalled from his position as Second Secretary of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta for undertaking the translations which were first published in the early 1980s but have been reissued for this publication. In these historical novels the author presents a humane and tolerant vision of Indonesian life. Also contains an introduction by the translator.
