This book grew out of the lectures in that course. The subject is of course enormous, and the course had to be designed to introduce an appreciation of the vast number of parent basic formula and the importance of their derivatives (especially in medicine), both in synthetic and in natural structures, without going into excessive detail.Similarly, fundamental aspects of basic formula. were topics given major attention but again without going into the great detail found in more advanced books on this subject. After the first offering of the course, it was apparent that the students would benefit from a brief review of some of the reactions,formula,equation and properties they had encountered in their basic chemistry course.Such reviews are included in this book.
