Behind my front door

More than five years have passed since the publication of Behind My Front Door, in which Truusje van Zanten told her story about the domestic violence that she and her children had to endure and how she managed to escape it and bring her two children to safety. In the sequel, Truusje shows how much trauma from the past has an impact on the present. In guiding her two children to a better future, she still has to deal with a bewildering number of professionals from agencies, such as foster care, youth care, the child protection council and others. In her own clear language, Truusje describes how terribly wrong things can go in the jungle of professional care when cooperation with foster parents falters or when wrong assessments are made and, as a result, a child becomes adrift. In this book, Truusje also holds a mirror up to many of those involved.
