Certainly - but so is the latest in the line: the 180 mph ZRI can hold its own with any production sports car in the world, matching or surpassing the best that Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini have to offer.
The Corvette story has been one of rags to riches. It appeared over thirty years ago as an under-powered six-cylinder car, but went on t become a revolution in design, a pioneer of fiberglass construction from the beginning, of fuel injection in the 1950s, plastic springs in the 1980s, and six-speed gearboxes and quad-cam alloy V8s for the next decade.
