This 3 volume set traces groundbreaking innovation and avante-garde experimentation in art. Book 1, 1880-1945, features work by artists such as Cezanne and Picasso, whilst the 1945-1975 period looks at Jackson Pollock, Barnett Newman and Dan Flavin to name but a few, the final book, 1975-2005, reproduces drawings by, among many others, Jasper Johns, Anselm Kiefer and Kiki Smith.
