Early Medieval Waterscapes

This volume 8 of the New Studies on Saxony Research publishes the contributions to the 67th International Saxony Symposion. The annual symposium took place from September 17th to 21st, 2016 in Antwerp (Belgium). The theme of the symposium was discussed in four sections: Waterscape and hinterland connections, Waterscape societies landscape and environment, Waterscape societies: material culture and Trade and Transport in the northwestern European estuaries. In a fifth session, new research results were examined within the framework of the archeology working group of the Saxons and their neighboring peoples in north-western Europe. In the five chapters of this volume, which represent the sections of the symposium, 19 international authors present their research activities.
