Rare first and only Dutch translation of William Youatt’s influential work on cattle breeding, management, and diseases, originally published in London in 1834. Translated by the noted Dutch agricultural authority Evert Cornelis Enklaar, this Zwolle edition is illustrated with 32 attractive hand-coloured depictions of British cattle breeds on 9 folding lithographed plates by L.J. Tordoir. The careful contemporary colouring enhances the visual appeal of the plates, which were based on the uncoloured engravings of the English edition. A significant agricultural work of the nineteenth century, scarce in commerce and rare institutionally.
