My Boy

My Boy is the long-awaited debut of Olivier Schrauwen. In a drawing style that strongly refers to the American cartoonist Winsor McCay (1867-1934), Olivier Schrauwen conjures 5 short stories about a father and his son from his hat with panache. Father is a distinguished and stylish gentleman of standing in his age, his son especially unsightly small, ugly and with a small voice volume. They appear in stories that initially seem to be about ordinary, everyday slice-of-life events (a visit to the zoo, a trip to Bruges, ...) but after the first page they take unexpected, surreal and sometimes even nightmarish turns
