The Museum of Fine Arts Leipzig (MdbK) is presenting the first institutional solo exhibition of the internationally renowned photographic artist Andreas Gursky (born 1955) in his birthplace of Leipzig. Andreas Gursky's oeuvre, which to date comprises well over 200 works, visualizes complex constructions of reality that are always linked to social issues. For several decades, he has addressed work, leisure, consumer behavior, major events, and financial systems in his photographs. Gursky's perspective is objective, precise, and always subjective. His compositions are technically and artistically unique. The works visualize a multifaceted and associative view of our globalized world.
