No Room to Answer examines the artist couple's interest in the early history of photography and film, demonstrating how their picturesque, brilliantly colored images craft stories without a beginning or an end in vague, repetitious loops in which calm and movement, reality and dream, are precisely balanced. Starting with Hubbard and Birchler's early staged photographs, this monograph presents all of the artists' key works from 1991 to the present and includes three essays as well as a comprehensive interview with the artists.
