Imaging Brain Structure and Function

The cellular complexity and interconnectivity of the brain demands that new and noninvasive techniques be developed to detect alterations in the brain's function and structure due to neuropathologic processes and neurotoxicity. These new brain and CNS imaging techniques are described in this volume of papers, by researchers in their respective fields. These include fluorescence confocal microscopy, NMR imaging and spectroscopy, ballistic light scattering, atomic force and near-field microscopy, optical imaging and future imaging computer applications. The volume is intended as a guide to both present and future technological developments in the neurosciences and addresses the question of how they will add to understanding the mammalian brain structure and function.
