Some 4- to 7-line and many 3-line initials in red ink. # Second Venetian edition (1st. 1476) of this biblical dictionary compiled by the Italian Franciscan friar Giovanni Marchesini in the 14th century. The Mammotrectus is a guide to understanding the texts of the Bible, for use of late medieval preachers: it explains words from the Bible and other religious texts both etymologically and grammatically, their pronunciation and morphology, and significance. The Mammotrectus was first printed by Petrus Schoeffer in Mainz in 1470. Ref. ISTC im00238000.
