Metropolitan Landscape Architecture

The development of the urban landscape from the Renaissance until now. The examples include classic parks in which the architectural relationship between the city and the landscape was captured in a new, normative way, such as the Horti Farnesiani in Rome, the Gartenreich of Potsdam near Berlin, the Central Park in New York, the Boston Parksystem and the Niddatal in Frankfurt. This line is extended to the modern metropolis. In more than 250 new drawings the essential steps in this design history are analyzed.
