Oman

This book first came into being after I returned from a trip to Oman in 1996. Comparing the photographs that I had just taken with ones that were taken in the late 1960s and early 1970s, I thought that the remarkable changes that have occurred in Oman since July 1970 should really be photographically documented in a book for all to see.
When I began to seriously pursue the project, however, it soon became obvious that a wider selection of pictures was required for a countrywide THEN theme. In the early days, travel restrictions had been in force in some areas, notably Musandam and Dhofar, and the photographic record I had to hand was a bit thin. Consequently, I contacted former colleagues who had worked in Oman many years ago, and they supplied me with more than 5,000 old slides to choose from.
