Open spaces - secret places

This catalogue presents artistic positions which illustrate phenomena related to the perception of places and spaces. Tom Burr, Teresa Hubbard/Alexander Birchler, Joachim Koester and Jeff Wall stage mysterious peripheries and subject them to a search for historical traces. Louise Lawler questions the museum as a place for presenting art. Gordon Matta-Clark cuts houses open to radically redefine them for the viewer. Ceal Floyer and Janet Cardiff/George Bures Miller stage memories as an audiovisual space of experience; Ernesto Neto, Fred Sandback and Anthony McCall create an individual, tangible experience of space for every visitor.
