Against the background of current challenges, the author turns to the question of the extent to which environmental impact assessment can be made fruitful for global climate protection. The author shows that global climate is part of the task profile of an environmental impact assessment. Based on the practical difficulties identified, the author recommends the use of the scope model to operationalise the legal obligations.
