Punk

Punk tells the story of this movement from its inception in the Factory of Andy Warhol with its house band The Velvet Underground, onto Detroit and the MC5, Iggy Pop and the Stooges and through to the New York Dolls. The New York scene is examined in depth, the clubs CBGB's and Max's Kansas City and bands such as the Ramones, Wayne County and the Heartbreakers. The book inevitably leads to London and the Sex Pistols, McLaren and Westwood's shop SEX, the Clash and the Subway Sect, the Roxy, Don Letts and the rise of dub reggae. As well as an oral history the book is a powerful visual record. The writers have collaborated with some of the most important photographers of the time such as Nat Finkelstein, Lee Black Childers, Ray Stevenson and Dennis Morris.
