The first seventeen years of Charmagne Pendleton's life have been...difficult, to say the least. But things reach a tragic peak when a murder is committed and Charmagne's family is ripped away from her, all in a single night. Arrested for the gruesome crime and awaiting an execution at the gallows, a handsome young defense counselor named Thomas Wixom has agreed to take on Charmagne's case. He refuses to reveal his reasons for doing so. She refuses to divulge what happened the night of the murder.
