Omschrijving
Francis Bartels is one of Ghana's most distinguished educationalists. He was formerly headmaster of Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast Ghana; subsequently held several posts at UNESCO including Adviser on Education in Africa to the Assistant Director-General for Education, and Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education, University of Nairobi. He was also for a time the Ghanaian Ambassador to Germany. This book is a personal account of his life and the times through which he has lived. It describes and reflects on the nationalist movements in the 1920s and 1930s; the many political transitions; Kwame Nkrumah's policies, specifically his education policies; and the student demonstrations in Paris in 1968.
