"As early as 1973, William Horn, Professor of Comparative Literature at Cornell University, leafing through a copy of the first French translation of Ulysses (1929), came across an unknown cycle of poems by the Irish author. The Bloomiad, scribbled in the author's minuscule hand on the last blank pages, may have been intended as a homage to Ben Huebsch, Joyce's first American publisher. The sequence of eighteen Onegin stanzas or Pushkin sonnets summarizing the eighteen episodes of Ulysses and mimicking their divergent styles." (preface).
