In a secret stronghold in the United States, America's Super-Soldier, Captain America, lies on a hospital bed, hovering near death, a hero ready to pay the final price for the country he loves so dearly. Meanwhile in the battle-torn wastelands of Afghanistan, Marine Corporal James Newman is fatigued from months of endless combat. After he and his squad discover an enemy stronghold in a cave in the mountains outside Kandahar, an explosion seals them inside. In the din of battle, with the smoky haze of the explosion mixing with the dust of the cave-in, the hand of a hero emerges. Corporal Newman finds himself standing next to Captain America. Together they beat back the overwhelming fear of the moment and stand as warriors in a desperate attempt to rescue Newman's squad. Is this Captain America real? Is he just a ghost?
