Omschrijving
'The ultimate Sideman'. . . that's how the American Jazz musician Dave Liebman characterizes his friend, the Dutch Jazz Drummer Eric Ineke. From 1968 Eric has performed with the legends of Jazz; in this book he recalls his experiences with these masters. Interwoven throughout are transcriptions of Dave and Eric's discussions about these musicians. Dave: 'Eric's memory is flawless and seemingly photographic. Details of time and place are incredible. This is really a history of Jazz, especially in the second half of the 20th century when so many of the original masters were still active.'.' Eric Ineke (Haarlem, 1947) is one of the greatest Jazz Drummers in The Netherlands. In a career spanning 45 years, he has performed with many of the greatest American and Dutch Jazz musicians, some of them legendary, very often in tandem with master pianist Rein de Graaff. Since 2006 he tours with his own Jazz quintet, the JazzXpress. David Liebman (Brooklyn, New York, 1946), saxophonist and flautist, began his professional career performing in groups lead by drummer Elvin Jones and trumpeter Miles Davis. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of the International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ) headquartered in The Hague. He is the recipient of the French Order of Arts and Letters as well as receiving the highest award for Jazz in America, the Jazz Masters lifetime achievement from the National Endowment for the Arts.
