This sparse, tense collection of free verse poetry chronicles the trauma of being in a mentally and emotionally abusive relationship, how hard it is to feel stuck when the relationship ends, and the growth and healing that comes when the ashes have fallen. Written over the span of two years by a high school student, words unsaid starts at the darkest times when everything is going wrong. It takes the reader on a journey through breaking, to damaged and finally into growth. With themes of identity, self-love, wellness, recovery, and even grief. This collection reminds us that we are not alone-there is always someone nearby who understands what it's like, and can help. Even after the darkest times, things do get better.
