Thomas Struth - Portraits

Thomas Struth portrays only people he knows: individuals, couples and families. He photographs them in daylight, with a cumbersome, heavy plate camera on a tripod, using long exposure times - a time - consuming process demanding considerable concentration, which allows plenty of time for dissolving any self-consciousness and for enhancing sensitivity.
