Turner's Painting Techniques

A second edition of the 1993 Tate Gallery exhibition catalogue serving as an aesthetic journey through Turner's work as well as a detailed analysis of the artist's painting techniques. Using scientific analyses of Turner's oils and watercolors and research into his writings, Townsend (Senior Conservation Scientist, Tate Gallery) presents an interesting survey of Turner's experimentation with innovative colored pigments and paint formulations.
