First edition. Contains 30 lithographs (cover incl.), some double page, by Bracque, Matisse, Henri Laurens, Giacometti, Masson, Leger, Miro, Bores, Gromaire et Chagall. Illustrated throughout in colour and b/w. Some tipped-in plates. Texts in French by a.o. Pierre Raverdy, Alberto Giacometti, Albert Camus, Willem Sandberg, Gaston Bachelard, André Masson, Jean-Paul Sartre, Cassou etc.

The Verve review was a luxurious, modernist Parisian art magazine published between 1937 and 1960. It sought to bring the works of the emergent Modernist and Surrealist painters to a wider public. Only 38 editions were published, due to the high degree of design and editorial work dedicated to each issue. Each edition contained unique lithographic prints.
