Lane is a seventeen-year-old who is accustomed to her life of stability and predictability. Having recently taken over as the leader of her father's delivery team, she is excited to travel and see the continent of Maran, so long as she has a plan to follow. Twenty-year-old Alec is a mercenary with a carefree attitude and a love of ale that often gets him into trouble. On the surface, he's anything but serious, but his troubled past - paired with his line of work - keeps him from making deeper connections with people.
