Camp 020

The most recent title from the Public Record Office's Secret History Files, Camp 020 tells the story of Britain's M.I.5 holding center where captured Nazi spies were taken and interrogated. Latchmere House in west London was the center of M.I.5's counterespionage operation during World War II. The camp's commandant, Major Robert Stephens, wrote a fascinating history of the camp's wartime activities. His eccentric account includes details of all the leading Nazi agents.Despite the pressure of the time, Stephens refused to use torture or physical intimidation. Many spies were turned into double agents who did valuable work for the Allies, others were tried and executed.
