Discusses the war crimes trial of the German General Staff and High Command by an American-staffed court of the Nuremberg International Military Tribunal (28 November 1947-28 October 1948). The majority of the defendants were accused specifically of war crimes in the Soviet Union. Based mainly on the trial records, pp. 164-190, 412-452, 603-673, and 745-810 focus on the impact of Nazi ideology and racial policy on the Wehrmacht; the relations with the main Nazi organs (SS, SD, Gestapo, Einsatzgruppen) involved in anti-Jewish acts, mainly in Eastern Europe; the Wehrmacht's reactions to acts against Jews; and direct involvement of the Wehrmacht in the persecution of Jews.
