Omschrijving
Later edition (1st 1613) of the first scientific Arabic grammar by a European scholar. This is the rare and important first edition expanded by A. Schultens (1686-1750) with an early Latin translation of pieces of the Hamasah, compiled by the 9th-c. Arabic poet Abu Tammam. Ill. with engr. printer's mark on title and engr. arms. Th. Erpenius (1584-1624), a student of Scaliger, was the first professor Arabic at the University of Leiden.
