Yoko Ono has been a key figure in two of the most significant developments in 20th-century art. One is the shattering of the frame - the explosion of the traditional Western notion of the work of art as a unique representational object. The second is the globalization of the avant garde and its transformation by cross fertilization with a variety of non-Western authentic and philosophical perspectives.
