Jan Miense Molenaer

The work of Molenaer is a key link between Pieter Bruegel the Elder and Jan Steen. His early work consists of colourful genre paintings, portraits, and portrayals of the playful world of children, followed by a concentration on scenes of peasant life, all displaying an inventive symbolism and humor.
