First edition. Complete with photographic portrait of Wiertz as frontispiece, a photograph of one of his paintings, both by Edmond Fierlants, and 4 lithographs. Contains the literary and critical works of the eccentric Belgian painter Joseph Wiertz, including essays on the Belgian "Salon" exhibitions of 1842 and 1851; a study on Rubens, the Flemish School and a technical study on painting.
