Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882) produced some of the most glittering andvocative images of the Victorian era. A member of the influentialre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, Rossetti found inspiration in the writings ofante, Shakespeare and Malory, with many of his paintings depicting scenesrom Arthurian legend and tales of medieval chivalry. His brilliant use of colour and his originality of vision havensured his reputation as one of the most gifted painters of the 19th century.
