Under the enlightened rule of the Underground Group's publicity officer Frank Pick, appointed in 1908, many of the major and unsung minor artists from Britain, Europe and the USA produced their finest work as poster advertising for the London Underground. The stations and platforms of the Underground became one huge modern art gallery - the biggest art gallery in the world - featuring over the years more than 3,000 original posters of stunning diversity. Oliver Green, the first curator of the London Transport Museum and an acknowledged expert on the history of London Transport, has selected from the archive 200 of the best posters for this highly acclaimed book.
