Omschrijving
First edition. Important catalogue published for Gordon Matta-Clark's exhibition at the Internationaal Cultureel Centrum (ICC), Antwerp, 8 October–6 November 1977, and closely associated with Office Baroque, the major architectural intervention he created in a vacant office building on the Antwerp quays. Extensively illustrated with photographic documentation of Matta-Clark's architectural cuts and projects, and including an interview with the artist, Al Brunelle's “The Great Divide: ‘Anarchitecture’ by Gordon Matta-Clark” and Donald Wall's “Gordon Matta-Clark's Building Dissections”, together with biographical and bibliographical material. The striking blue typographical portfolio, with its characteristic geometric design, forms an integral part of the publication. 'Office Baroque' became one of Matta-Clark's most important building cuts. Following his death in 1978, efforts to preserve the work led to the establishment of the Gordon Matta-Clark Foundation; the collection assembled through artists' donations subsequently formed an important basis of the M HKA collection. A scarce contemporary document, published less than a year before Matta-Clark's death and complete with its original ICC portfolio.
